If you are like me, you have various rockets weighing from 14 ozs to 140 ozs. Some can handle single use engines because they have motor hooks and some can't. For each rocket there is a selection of engines that work good and there are some engines that shouldn't be used. Of course each engine will fly each rocket to a different altitude. And you probably have many different engines in your flight box.

How does one keep everything straight? How can you quickly determine what engine to use in the field? How do you know what you have in stock and what needs to be ordered? Well, I am sure there are a million ways to do this but I have a file which I print out which gives me all the info I need quickly and accurately. I have attached a copy below.

Across the top I list all my high power rockets and their weight. Along the left side I list all possible engines made along with their max take off weight and if they are SU or RMS. If an engine works for a particular rocket, I have the projected altitude listed if known or ??? if not known. Having a nice matrix also quickly shows me what engines will fly in the most rockets. For example, looking below you'll see that an F40-7 flies in a lot of rockets so if I am short on space I can take F40-7 knowing that will fit many rockets. I also take a printout of this and bring it to my hobby store or launch side vendor when I need to stock up. Lastly it list engine casing sizes in case I forget that an I211 is a 38/480 and an I357 is a 38/360 for example.
