His Loving Peace

God is perfect!

God is great!

His love is grand!

Spread His peace across the land

He wants us to love others

Why can’t it be done?

He shed his blood

He did it to save everyone!

Let’s spread our joy and share his love

Ask Him to give us peace just like a dove

He is the Holy One! The Lord almighty!

Cats

They got whiskers

They got fur

They’re soft and loveable

As they purr

They love to be cuddled

They love to sleep

You wiggle your fingers and they leap

Cats are cuddly

They’re works of God

They can sometimes be rather odd

Cats are loveable

Cats are cute

And to me they’re worth more than

A bag of loot

If I Were a Tree

3-10-04    5th grade

There lives a tree on 19 South Ave. It’s a big, beautiful tree that grows money, peaches and mango, and big beautiful oranges and tangerines. That tree is me! My life as a tree is cool! Even in the winter, I am so loved! That’s why I must tell someone about it.

It was a sunny, early-summer day when I was playing with my Ent cousins. Of course though, they can walk around, but, I’m rooted into the beautiful grassy ground so, I can’t. Still, when they bat around an orange they teasingly pluck out of my green hair, we all have lots of fun! I still splash around in the lovely bluish, clear river water God set next to me. Anyway, we were playing when I suddenly remembered that they needed to be home by the time Mr. Sun is right above our heads so, I told them they had to go. Right after they left, Cathy, Mary, and Peter came running toward me shouting to each other things like, "Hey, wait up!" and "I like mango. It’s even better from the Special Tree (me) in the summer!" and "I like pears myself." Boy, are they kind to me! They climbed up on me and started grabbing things out of my broad, green leaves and eating them while they sat on my big, brown branches. They like me a lot, also my money too, though. They like my strong branches that they hung a tire on. Still, I haven’t told you about the ones who don’t like me.

Mr. Talkatake, a fat, mean, greedy man who lives nearby, yells at me and shakes my branches a lot until I finally let go of money he wants from me. Unfortunately, some land in the river which makes him upset, so, he slaps me, getting a little sap, fungi, and ants on his hand. Another person, or should I say bird, who seems not to like me is a plump, red-headed, trained woodpecker. He goes nailing his sharp, black beak into me every morning as he builds his home inside my trunk. He brings more and more fruit inside and to his owner every day, not to mention wood.

Being a tree has good points and bad. Up until the woodpecker killed me, everything but my foes was pretty pleasant and even in my cold, freezing, bare winters, the Cacciatore kids brought me warm clothes. This was a normal day in my life. I liked being a tree with such good friends! God made me so special!!

Want to be a Christian?

Does your life feel empty, like there’s nobody to comfort you when there’s nobody else around but you and the special person I’m about to tell you about? Is death a fear you have? Are you going through hard times? Do you feel like nobody loves you a lot? I know someone who loves everyone equally. He loves everyone so much that He died for us all. He loves everyone so much that we can’t even think of all that love! He loves you so much and He’s so powerful, He can help you with the things I mentioned AND MORE!! His wonderful name is Jesus Christ the Savior of us all! Sound great? Let’s go on.

There is a way to defeat the fear of death. Many people believe that when you die it is the complete end and you are gone completely and forever or come back as animals. That is totally a false statement. It’s a lie from the devil! I’ll get to him later. The truth is that when you die you go to Heaven or Hell depending on if you are born again or not. If you are, you go to a wonderful, beautiful place called Heaven. Heaven has grapes of plenty and streets of gold! It has wonderful gorgeous gems and pearls around itself. This place is where the angels live. They worship God there who also lives there shining WAY brighter than the sun! There is no sin or crying, boredom or pain there! God wipes away all your tears there. It’s a perfect, awesome, beautiful place in Heaven and we all have the chance to live there forever but, we must be born again! "Born again?" you may ask. "What does that mean?" Let me tell you.

Born again doesn’t mean that you go back in your Mom’s belly. It means that you have to accept Jesus as your personal Savior and a friend. It means that you have a personal relationship with God and you love Him. It means that you believe what I’m about to tell you and understand. God is in three forms: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. God sent His one and only son to come and teach us His ways and die for us on the cross. Sin is the things we do wrong and it’s so bad, the punishment is death! Instead of us being killed, Jesus took our place! That’s how much He loves us! God took away that punishment and when we ask forgiveness from Him, because He’s in charge, He can take away our sins again! God is so great!

These are the things you must do to have everlasting life with God in Heaven and not with the terrible, pure-evil Satan (the Devil) in Hell (the place where you go if you are not born again). This is Christianity. If you’d like to have this wonderful life as a Christian, follow the steps. You’d want to continue being a Christian with help from the Bible and a good church because church will help you with your relationship with God and other Christians, and the Bible will help with that and everything else. This life isn’t perfect, but it’s worth it!!

                                      Cheerios

Cathy Cacciatore                                                        5-11-06

     Mrs. A.                                                                   Lit. 7

One morning when it was early and dark, my Dad woke me up. I was very groggy and mad at him for pulling the covers off and yelling, “Wake Up! Time to smell the doughnuts!!!” I stomped into the kitchen to find that the only cereal left was icky Cheerios. The 1st bite was okay, but the next was yummy…

Then everything was dark. I couldn’t get up. Soon, I heard voices and squeaks around me. Wait, not squeaks, meows. They were meowing. “Good night miss!” A couple seconds later, I could see again and a Cheerio with a tail, strawberry nose, ears, face and whiskers was in front of me. He was staring happily with a blindfold in his paw.

I was amazed to see such a big Cheerio despite the fact it was also a live, talking cat! “Good night!” another one said,  “You’re in Cheerriopia (say Cheer-i-o-pi-a), the mother country Cherry Land wasn’t so cheery when we refused to buy their milk due to the lack of cat nip factories being constructed in Cheery Land. Therefore we moved here.” “Wow! You sure use advanced sentences.” “Yes, we know that.” They all said to me. Then I remembered the blindfold in one kitty’s paw. “Why are you holding that blindfold?” I asked. “I just took it off you. We put it on you when you were unconscious so you wouldn’t see us, and we’d be a surprise,” one said. “You’re clever, but wait.” I starred at them with a confused look. “Unconscious?” They explained a scientific phenomenon about my bowl of cereal. They explained to me that it became a wormhole, and how it sucked me into their dimension. They saw me on the ground, gathered around, and waited for me to wake up. To close the lecture, they added, “And by the way, we’re an advanced species due to our knowledge.” That made sense except for one thing…why do they say “Good night” when I just woke up at 7:00am? I found this peculiar and asked them. “It’s simply because this dimension is 12 hours ahead of yours,” they replied. I was amazed by them.

“By the way, my name is Percy!” said the excited one with the blindfold. “Say, would you like to come to my box?” This wasn’t a familiar question to me so I found it puzzling. He could see that and told me it was his home. With great interest, I exclaimed, “I’d be delighted to!” Therefore, I went to his “box” which was filled with clean laundry and dead mice. “I collect mice and catch food for we can not use milk.” “Why?” “That is for another time.” His small box was indeed a home for cats. There was grass to chew on and birds to watch. The little guy seemed like he had almost everything…except the milk and catnip. I could see he had more sorrow to him than what was easy for one of our species to understand.

BANG! BOOM! The box almost collapsed on me. Thank God I moved away just in time. The cat ran out of the house so I followed him. We ran down the streets of Cheerios for Cats, occasionally jumping over fences and ducking to avoid the large cat tree branches. “Quicker! Quicker!” Percy cried as we ran into a small hole. The hole was very black inside and led to a small cave with many tunnels. In the cave were many wounded and hungry Cheerio cats. They were licking themselves and helping each other. “This is our sanctuary from the Cocopups of Cherry Land like the one we just ran from.

I knew now that this was a bigger conflict than I thought. I asked, “What is going on?” The silence stopped and conversations about me arose. They could now tell that I was a foreigner. They knew that no citizen of Cheerios for Cats was unaware of the troubles that I was to soon find out.

To be continued…
